Fraudulent GoFundMe Page

In August 2019, police said Geoffrey and Kaycee Lang, from Friedens in Somerset County, faked the birth and death of a baby boy they called Easton. They held a baby shower and a gender reveal party, and later even a memorial service.

False Pretences

A GoFundMe campaign raised $550 from 15 donations, and police said the couple collected more than $600 in donations and gifts in total. Investigators found no record of the baby’s birth or death. GoFundMe said it would refund every donor.

Police Involvement

Police said a photo of the “baby” shared on Facebook matched a newborn look-alike doll found in the couple’s home. Pennsylvania State Police charged them with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
